Can you please provide source code of this firmware (or a link to it, if it’s hosted somewhere else)? I wasn’t able to find it. Rockbox is GNU GPLv2 licensed, and the license requires that the source code should be publicly available.

Are you sure they responded that about the Rockbox port and not about their stock firmware?

Can you please provide the details on where did you get this Rockbox firmware? Do you know who ported Rockbox to this DAP and how to contact them?

I want to remind that it’s a copyright infringement to not provide source code of publicly released binaries of modified code that is GPL licensed (Rockbox in this case).

Yes, we are sure this is the rockbox for the Xduoo X3 II.

The rockbox was shared by Xduoo company directly, and according Xduoo company saying, it is developed by a Russian audiophile. But Xduoo didn’t provide the contact detail to us.

We shared the rockbox on download center is just to let the audiophile to download it more conveniently, if the original developer don’t allow this, please contact us via the contact form. We will remove it. Thanks.

We are working on the tutorial of how to install rockbox. It will be available later.

You can go back to original firmware even you installed the rockbox.

Installed dropbox and working great on the xDuoo x3 ii. But, a few things. Default/stock firmware now is v1.0 and also sorta in russian. The startup/shutdown screen, half russian.

I can’t access the .rockbox folder, not sure how to. Can’t build myself a custom theme because of this.

Installed by placing the update file directly on the root of the sd card and using update firmware in settings on the stock firmware. I actually updated to v1.2 first and then installed rockbox, which wiped that out.

Overall, the port is fully functional, but unless I could interact with the .rockbox folder, this is pretty weak. I am working on custom themes, but can’t get them going.

Installed this and it works but as mentioned above the firmware has been rolled back to version 1.1. There is no access to the lockbox folder, the original folder now shows the cover art for “Musik Wie Von Einem Anderen Stern” on the Playing Now screen if you have no cover art in the folder. Also half of the menus are in Russian. Is an updated version in the works?

Firmware 1.3 was released for X3 II. Curious to see whether Rockbox can run on this firmware as well.

Just wanted to leave an update since I left a few comments before.

Theme issue fixed, still having a database issue which i am hoping will be resolved via changing the format of the micro SD card to fat32 instead of exfat, which was working fine with the stock firmware. Not sure if the database issue will be resolved as easily as the theme issue.

I’m interested in getting a nice theme going on here, as the default firmware is very clean, and especially clean with the modded firmware which provides Rockbox. I’m fairly certain it’s not official changes, but 1.2 with rockbox is no longer a bit russian on the official firmware, the font is slightly different, there’s a bit of difference between the status bar at the top and small stuff like Bluetooth icons feel like they’re in different spots. This is all on the official firmware, not Rockbox

To be clear, I am running X3ii_v1.2_5bbc553-190915

I am an idiot, and in the tools menu upon bootup, there’s an ADB start option. This is how you access the what would be the .rockbox folder on other devices. This is a bit of a note worth making, that the directory is under /usr/rockbox.

I fudged up my rockbox by enabling a theme which was not right for this device, so that’s an easy fix. However, it’s a mistake which will follow you through updates through the zip file provided on this and the other website. You have to either use the tools menu to install a fresh rockbox, or remove the file yourself. Using the update function on the official firmware will not affect this, which is why I thought it wasn’t a fixable issue.

Click this, use adb on a linux/windows computer, remove the offending theme which is causing a crash, and Rockbox works as normal. I did find that any 240×320 theme is supposed to work, but this was before I realized that in the mega link on this site http://xvtx.ru/rockbox/download.htm
(https://mega.nz/#F!Bp0kTSwA!iQU_CpM14hQiDlHJzaLwgg) already has I believe every single theme

I am using seek_n_destroy_knitted and it is working wonderfully. Old themes I used to love like retroTape are NOT working properly, and I’m not sure why just yet. I’m working on changing the specifics in the theme config files, as I believe its either an image needing to be scaled differently, or a font issue.

Other than that, working great, lrcplayer is wonderful, but

      Hi,

I’ve messed up with rockbox and xDuoo X3 II. I’ve made a firmware update and swapped rockbox versions. Long story short, I can’t access the SD card from the device, although the SD can be written while plugged into a computer or plugged into the X3II and then plugged via USB. Firmware or rockbox updates don’t work because although ti detects there is an SD card, it can’t read it.

I have been told in the rockbox forum that I can access the X3II through adb. I have downloaded the package, tried “adb devices” with X3II plugged and there are no devices detected. What should I do to access the player using adb? Thank you.

        Hello again,

It’s solved through adb, for some reason it didn’t detect it but now it does. Now I can access the device.
