Many people are always looking for the headphone buying advice, and they often asked,

“ which headphone should I get ?“

If you asked me, I will say, it depends on what you are looking for ? Most often, what the person needs is something they can wear at their desk. In that case, I will recommend Audio-Technica ATH M50x.

It is  perfect for the office, or for use in any sort of DJing or music production. It is large, but it’s comfortable enough to wear all day.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the Audio Technica ATH M50x review .

What is the meaning of “ X” ?

Well, when you bought the old models, you need to choose a coiled cable or a straight cable, and those cables were hard-set into the left earcup.

Now, each M50X headphones comes with three cables in the box, the curly cable, the 3-meter straight cable, and a new mobile-friendly 1.2-meter cable. Moreover, the cables are detachable.

So you can use the long cable at your desk, the short one on your commute, and the curly one at your DJ gig at the pizza place.

Sounds awesome, doesn’t it? Well, it has happened.

Audiotechnica ATH M50x Review on the Design

The ATH-M50x do not has much change from the ATH-M40x.  It  has  a bland design, but are well-built and feel sturdy. And the large ear cups is comfortable, and fit well around most early.

However, it is not the most stable headphones and will slip off your ears, if used while running or jogging. It also provides no audio controls, which is a little disappointing.

Sound

The Audio Technica M50x is a great sounding over-ear headphones. It has an excellent and extended Bass, an excellent Mid Range, a very good Treble, and low distortion.

Want to know the best part?

Their Bass delivery may vary slightly from person to person, and like most closed-back headphones, it doesn’t have open and spacious Soundstage.

Isolation

Like the ATH-M40x, ATH-M50X is not active noise cancelling headphones. The ear cups can passively isolate high-frequency noise, because of the tight seal they create around most ears.

However, the lack of active noise cancelling will let the low rumbles of trains and planes seep into your audio and potentially affect your listening experience. Leakage is not too much of an issue but is noticeable at high volumes.

Pros

Comfort

  Reasonable price

  Detachable Cables

  Field and studio monitoring

  Accurate audio

Cons

Swivel earcups – nice idea, but not practical

Plastic build

Conclusion

I can honestly see why M50X headphones is rated so highly. The style, comfort, and overall great sound is what makes it a great buy.

It’s unusual to find sound of this quality at this price range.

During my time with these headphones, I have never heard any negative thing in regards to the comfort or the sound.
